Call me crazy, but I’ve agreed to try the 6 Item Challenge. Nothing says minimalism like only wearing 6 items of clothing for an entire month! Check out the rules here (thankfully, undergarments, workout clothes and pajamas are not included).
Now, I did confess recently how much I love clothing, and I doubt this will change that part of me. But, given the whirlwind of purging that I’ve done in the last months, my wardrobe is quite downsized (I still haven’t managed to get rid of the damn prom dress: I’m working on it), and I have fewer of those moments where I’m standing in front of a very full closet thinking “What ever shall I wear?” That said, I am really, really curious to see how I (and my outward identity) feel after 31 days in the same 6 items. Seems from the posts on their site that people either really love the “uniform” or they hate the lack of choice.
I still have to choose my six items, and I start Monday. Pictures and more thoughts soon.

Hi, Sara. My name is Dani and I’m a 29 year old yogi/reader/quilter/meditate-er/momma, etc., heh, uh, person in the PNW. I’ve been on a simplifying/minimalist journey for six years now (since I was pregnant with my daughter!), and it is incredibly liberating and freeing, as you know. It’s just part of who I am now and makes me very happy. I just read your post on miss minimalist and came to your blog and have been reading awhile. I had the need to say that I absolutely LOVE your writing. I feel so very relaxed and at peace when reading each post I come across, and that kind of feeling doesn’t usually happen when I read online.. the only other time I know of is when I read Leo’s zenhabits and mnmlist – and even then it’s not like this at all! I feel like I can relate to you and your experiences much more and that is part of how I feel, I guess. Anyway, I couldn’t keep reading your wonderful writing without telling you this. :^p Thank you so much for what you’ve done here, and have fun today. :^)
I agree Dani! It’s a calmness that one finds here!
